The Laughters - 2027-2028
Piece for 7 dancers
Currently in the making.
The Laughters is not designed to make you laugh. It is an exploration and a study of the act of laughing.
Is laughter a purely human trait?
Is it the most unifying—or excluding or political—act of our societies?
We fold in two, we are ‘dead’ of laughter, ‘twisted’ with joy.
Upside down you’re turning me.
Can laughter still be an act of salvation?
Is it an act of liberation?
How do we laugh, and what happens in the body physically, mentally, physiologically, hormonally? Is laughter a voluntary or involuntary act?
This piece will be the first of a trilogy, exploring respectively laughter, tears, and fear.
Research and Development: 2026-2027

Choreographer / Director: Léa Tirabasso
In collaboration with the dancers: TBC
Composers: Johanna Bramli & Ed Chivers
